What are Russian volume eyelash extensions?
Russian Volume Eyelash Extensions are the new trend in the eyelash industry. They started in Russia in 2010.
They have spread across the globe as many people desire full, luminous lashes instead of just long eyelashes. The classic eyelash extensions added length but did not add fullness, which is what a lot of people need. If you have very few natural lashes, adding classic extensions can help but volume is what you need. Full lashes look much more natural than just having length alone. Full lashes make it look like you were born with them, rather than that you had them applied.
Difference Between Classic Eyelashes and Russian volume eyelash extensions
The classic eyelash extensions add length to the natural eyelash. They make the lashes more noticeable by extending their length and adding a darker colour to the lash. Classic lash extensions are known to be a bit heavier than Russian Volume Lashes. They can weigh down the natural eyelash and potentially cause damage to the lash, if the extensions are too thick or too long. They may fall off much sooner as well, requiring a fill-in much sooner.
Russian Volume Eyelash Extensions use a different technique that adds fullness to the eyelash. They improve the texture and volume of the lashes. Many people have very thin natural lashes or very few lashes and they need some way to add fullness to them. Before this new technique was developed that only way a technician could deal with thin, sparse lashes was to apply a heavier, thicker single lash, which looks unnatural. This would cause natural lashes to become overburdened. Volume lashes are where two up to 6 lightweight, thin lashes are combined and added to one natural lash. The lashes are fanned out to add volume to each natural lash, rather than just adding length. The weight of the volume lashes is much less than a classic single extension. You can have 2 lashes combined, 3, 4, 5 or 6. Obviously, having the maximum of 6 will increase the overall weight of each lash. If your lashes are very thin, you may want to use only 2 or 3 lash combinations.
Benefits of Russian Volume Lashes
The Russian volume eyelash extensions help fill in the gaps between sparse natural lashes that classic extensions could not do. The volume lashes create a fluffy, softer look to the lashes. They have been reported to cause no damage to the natural eyelash, (if applied with proper isolation) because of the lighter weight. Many people think that more volume means more adhesive, but this is also a misconception about the new lashes. The new lashes require only a small fraction of that which was used with previous extension techniques. The new lashes look darker than classic sets also, adding a richer look to your lashes. Obviously, another major benefit is how they make you look and feel. You can get up in the morning and without having to apply any makeup, can look pretty good. Having the dark lashes, you never have to use mascara again. If you are just running a few errands and you don’t want to do a full makeup job, you know that you will still look fabulous because you have your eyes on. When you do decide to do full makeup, you will look like a movie star with your dark, full lashes.
How Much More Volume Can You Expect?
You can decide how much volume you want. You have 8 levels of volume to choose from. The lashes start at the 2D level, where two lashes are combined and attached to each natural lash. They go all the way up to 8D lashes per one natural lash. You can select the level of volume you desire. Just be sure that the level you select is appropriate for the strength of your natural lashes. A good technician can help you determine this level.
For how long the Lash extensions will last?

Our natural lashes have a life cycle like every other hair on our body. They go through a growth phase, a resting phase and a shedding phase. This does not change when we add extensions on to the natural lash. If too much weight or improper isolation of the natural lash occurs during the application of the extensions, a natural lash may be “rushed” through it’s growth cycle or prematurely shed which can cause damage to the hair follicle. This is why the stigma that eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes exists as our industry is not regulated, therefore many lash artists receive inconsistent training about how to properly apply eyelash extensions so as to protect the natural lash health. If a lash artist applies an extensions with proper isolation (meaning no other natural lashes become stuck together in the adhesive) AND the weight of the extension is appropriate for the natural lash (meaning it’s not too long or too heavy for the natural lash to support) then your natural lash health will thrive and continue through it’s normal life cycle. So yes, your natural lashes will shed as a part of their growth cycle, it just may be more noticeable to you with extensions as you will see the extension attached to the natural lash.
We will work together to ensure your natural lashes are not being overburdened by the extensions and that you are following the best after care to ensure your lashes always stay healthy. Since your natural lashes will continue to go through their natural life cycle, this is the reason you will need to come in for maintenance every 2-4 weeks so that we can replace grown out extensions with new ones and add extensions to new natural lashes that were too little to lash at your previous appointment. Proper weight and application of the extensions means you can wear eyelash extensions indefinitely (aka FOREVER!) and no break is needed to allow your natural lash health to recover. I have many clients who have worn lashes constantly for years with no negative effects to their natural lash health. If you have any further questions or would like to know more, I would be more than happy to share my knowledge with you.

Acrylic / Gel Corrections-Overlays
Acrylic or Hard gel Correction or Overlay
Nail overlays – Overlays skip the extension step, and instead of adding artificial length to the nail, the strengthening mixture is simply applied directly onto the natural nail in order to add strength and durability. The amount of time before an infill is needed is determined by the skill of the technician and the way in which they are looked after by the client. The oiliness of the natural nail plate and whether the nails were badly bitten before also influences the lifespan of the nails.

Sculptured Nail Extensions
Acrylic or Hard gel extensions
What are sculptured extensions?
Nail extensions built upon 'forms'. The free edge (also known as the tip or the white part of the nail) is created by hand using acrylic liquid and powder or hard gel. No tips are used at all because this free edge is built up on top of the form. The form fits perfectly to the individual nail, creating the perfect curve and improved strength & durability. The whole process is done by hand and the art takes years to master.
